The 35th Annual Mayfair Holmesburg Thanksgiving Parade

"Bringing Music to Mayfair"

Sunday - November 20th 2011 - Noon to 3PM

Rain date - Sunday December 4th

Now is the time to show your community spirit and pride!

On Sunday November 20th, 2011 (rain date - December 4th) from Noon to 3:00, please join us in our 35th stroll down the Ave! We want to celebrate our community and all of the local business who have been the financial backbone of our neighborhood. Many generations have come to the Ave for this fun filled family event each fall whether they still live here, or have since moved away.

This year we have made a few exciting changes!

The Grand Marshall this year will be Ed Kelly, a very active member in our community. He's the man responsible for building the Pennypack Stage for all to enjoy live local music. Once Ed was chosen, we found it only fitting that the theme for the 2011 Mayfair/Holmebsurg Thanksgiving Parade be - "Bringing Music to Mayfair"

There will be two announcers this year. One located at the parade start, Ryan and Frankford avenues. The other at end of the Parade Route. Participants will have the opportunity to perform for two minutes at each location.

The triangle at Cottman and Frankford avenues will be buzzing with radio station B101, balloon artists, face painters and much more!

Floats

We've also added the opportunity to enter in you own float.

There will be ribbons awarded in the following catagories;

"Most Creative Float"
"The Funniest Float"
"Best Parade Themed Float"

Please note: All private floats and participants are the sole responsibility of the towing vehicle owner. The towing vehicle must be fully insured, and the driver / operator must be currently licensed. All floats must be family oriented, and due to the Septa lines, no taller than 12 feet high. All floats must pass the Parade Committee inspection prior to running in the parade.

Baby/toddler contest!

A baby/Toddler section of the parade will award ribbons awarded for the:

"Best Fancy Duds" for a boy and girl
"Most Creative Stroller or Wagon"
"Best Parade Themed Stroller or Wagon".

Parade Support

This parade is supported through donor contributions and advertising opportunities.
There is a new price structure for previous parade supporters.
If you had a banner in previous years parades, the price to have them displayed is:
1/3 banner - 3ft. x 3ft. - $150
1/2 banner 4.5ft.x 3ft.- $200
Full banner 9ft. x 3ft. - $350.

Should you require a banner made for your business, the following pricing will cover your banner as well as entry into the parade:
1/3 banner - 3ft.x 3ft. - $175
1/2 banner 4.5ft.x 3ft. - $250
Full banner 9ft. x 3ft. - $400

We strongly prefer you to supply your own banner carriers!
The banners are carried along the entire parade route. We do have teens willing and able, however due to the large number of banners entered, we have found ourselves shorthanded in previous years. We've found that the best way to represent your business would be to have your banners carried by members of your staff.

If you are interested in purchasing a banner or renting a float please call
215-333-2712
or email
mhparade@aol.com

Rented floats are provided by Blondies and cost $850 each. They can be shared.

We have a STRICT DEADLINE of November 4th for NEW banner entries,
and ALL entries are to have their information handed in by November 11th - NO EXCEPTIONS!

There are many fine areas for viewing all along the route.

For your pleasure, groups will perform at Cottman and Frankford and in front of the reviewing stand.

The order of march is the latest information as provided by the Parade Committee. Look for your favorite group and cheer them on. Our appologies but, changes in the order can occur at the last minute.

Please be considerate and recognize that uniforms, costumes, and flags are expensive to clean if they get dirty.
We ask that you do not spray or throw items such as silly string at the parade participants.
